Amd Is Experimenting With 7nm Chip Vega 20, Which Is Expected To Come Out By The End Of The Year

AMD recently announced their 2018 quarter earnings report, which has increased significantly over the same period last year. Revenue rose from $1 billion 180 million to $1 billion 650 million, an increase of 40%; profits soared from 11 million to $120 million, an increase of 990%. AMD has three business divisions: computing and graphics, enterprise / embedded / semi custom, and others. There is no suspense that the growth of performance has benefited from the strong pull of Ryzen and EPYC product lines, and the surge in demand for video cards by encrypting money for mining.

In addition to the good news, Suzi Feng also disclosed an important message during the telephone report, that the Radeon Technology Department has already opened a 7Nm chip in the laboratory and is expected to come out to customers later this year.

Of course, do not confuse it with NAVI, because this time only the VEGA process is narrowed from 14nm to 7Nm, and it is expected that the new GPU will be crowned Vega 20.

The earnings report is honest. TSMC will be responsible for building the 7Nm VEGA chip, because the GlobalFoundries technology is not yet ripe.

In addition to reducing size and reducing energy consumption, Vega 20 also optimizes machine learning and artificial intelligence work loads, resulting in improved computing performance and up to 32GB HBM2 memory.
