Mars Bioimaging, a scanner research and development company, describes a similar leap from black to white photography. In traditional CT scanning, X rays scan the part of the human body for a section. Because the bone's ISO density material can weaken (weaken energy) X rays more than soft tissue, their shape becomes clearer.


But for the new technology called Mars Bioimaging (Spectral CT), the sensor can measure the attenuation of the specific wavelength of X ray passing through different materials. "Spectral" After running the spectral data through a specific algorithm, 3D color images are generated, clearly displaying muscles, bones, fat, disease markers, etc. The final result is disturbing, like someone carving a detailed clay model in your heart.


The core of the Spectral CT scanner is the Medipix3 chip. The device can detect and calculate the individual particles per pixel on each impact sensor, originally developed at the European Nuclear Research Center to track particles in a Large Hadron Collider accurately. A small version of the device has been tested to find out how it can diagnose bone and joint health, the discovery of cancer, and early signs of vascular disease. The team said that the results so far have been encouraging.


"In all these studies, early results show that when spectral imaging is routinely applied to clinical practice, it will be able to diagnose and individualize treatment more accurately." Anthony Butler, one of the makers of the 3D scanner, said.
Clinical trials will take place in New Zealand in the next few months. This scanner is suitable for plastic surgery and rheumatology patients.
