The 5G industry has entered a new stage of full sprint. 3GPP has officially released 5G NR's independent Networking (SA) design plan, coupled with the non independent Networking (NSA) design that was released at the end of 2017, and the full functional standardization of the first phase of 5G has been completed, which means the 5G commercialization progress will be fully accelerated, while Ericsson (Ericsson), Skyworks and other operators have also stepped up their steps. To sprint new business opportunities for 5G SA.


In order to preempt the 5G SA business opportunity, Ericsson and Intel (Intel) hand in hand to China Mobile Research Institute and China Mobile Jiangsu branch to show the first multi vendor interoperability test that meets the 5G SA standard. Ericsson points out that the SA standard of 3GPP R15 5G NR provides the user face and control surface based on the 5G secondary core network (NGC), and 5G NR NSA and SA are designed to share the same entity standards, so this interoperability test is an important milestone for the 5G independent networking standards to be used for business.


The three parties involved in the cooperation took the lead in the 5G NR interoperability testing (IoDT) in Ericsson's Beijing laboratory. The test uses the 3.5GHz band, its bandwidth is 100MHz, and the multi vendor data transmission is completed. On the other hand, RF module supplier Skyworks is also actively attacking 5G business opportunities. After the release of the 5G SA standard, it is estimated that the 5G NR network will soon be deployed in the 3.3~5GHz spectrum, and the innovation speed of the RF front-end architecture will be greatly improved. Kevin Walsh, senior manager of Skyworks mobile marketing, explains that consumers' demand for enhanced mobile broadband technology must be based on a new 5G NR design to support larger bandwidth and new frequency bands, and to maintain the power consumption of mobile devices within a proper range. To meet the initial demand for 5G NR below 6GHz, Skyworks develops a complete solution with a bandwidth of up to 200 MHz and supports mobile architecture.
